In Vietnamese, the word ‘Triet’ translated to English is ‘philosopher’. I admire the old concept of ‘the philosopher’: they not only dealt with metaphysics, ethics or logic, but with many other fields as well: mathematics, physics, alchemy, astronomy,… they were ‘universal thinkers’, who stepped across boundaries of individual sciences. That’s what I strived to be, to not only be proficient in my profession, but also have decent understanding of other fields.
